A Change in Suns

A slight change, but still noticeable…

the way a winter sun burns colors so differently than summer.

Blondes, whites…no longer the coppers of the ground but now the colors streaming from a sky…you can almost taste the vanilla, almost hold the flaxen…

A new winter moon, platinum against the backdrop of an evening…splintering light that cascades as casually as tendrils upon shoulders.

Skims of frost on blue ice…seemingly cold but inhale the colors and find warmth.

A day in winter finds such shorter sunlight, finds the paleness between the trees, and finds the grays of the morning give way to the blondes of an afternoon until it darkens finally and firmly.

The colors of a white tee-shirt, the glimpse of cotton…the purest colors that match the lightest part of the day…a new sun to break upon the horizon, a new sun to get caught in the trees and polish the morning…a new sun to warm the winter air…to slow down the afternoon and hang lightly in pale skies…to dull the dark, to quiet the evening…the lighten the sky…

A new color, frequently seen but so rarely enjoyed…a change in suns…and a fine winter one to catch my eye.
